Silk Way Airlines Attends 2008 TIACA Executive Conference, Annual General Meeting

On May 12-14, 2008 Silk Way Airlines participated at The International Air Cargo Association's (TIACA) Executive Conference (EC) and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The aviation industry is working hard to reduce emissions and its impact on the environment. Any future legislation must take into account the overall impact of aviation on climate change ad well as the industry's vital importance to world trade.

The 200 delegates attending the TIACA conference heard the ATA call for proportionate policies that recognize that aviation drives 8% of the global economy yet accounts for less than 3% of greenhouse gas emissions.

At a special Hall of Fame Gala Dinner on the first evening of the conference, the TIACA delegates were graced by the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark, who attended the awards presentation to the 2008 TIACA Hall of Fame inductees. From Silk Way Airlines the delegates were: Vice-President, Sales & Marketing of Silk Way Holding, Mr.Kamran Gasimov, and Head of Foreign Relations Department of Silk Way Airlines, Mr.Farid Akhundov.

2008 Euroasian Cargo Group Meeting held in Baku

The annual meeting of Euroasian Cargo Group of Companies was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on may 9th, 2008. The meeting covered the results of work representations for past period, condition of performance of tasks, and existing problems and possible solutions.

The next annual meeting of the Euroasian Cargo Group of Companies will take place in Baku, on May 9th, 2008. At the meeting the results of work representations for past period, condition of performance of tasks, existing problems and solutions will be discussed.

Flights Baku-Shanghai-Baku

Beginning from January 31st, 2008 Silk Way Airlines resumes cargo flights on the Baku-Shanghai-Baku route twice a week. Flights will be operated on leased the aircraft (Boeing 747-400F) of Cargolux Airlines (registration number LX-PCV)

Euroasian Cargo New York Appoints JFK Sales Chief

Mr. Joseph Badamo has been appointed on the position of Sales Director of the Euroasian Cargo New York office at JFK International Airport, which is the GSA (General Sales Agent) in New York for Silk Way Airlines and Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL). Mr. Badamo previously held the position of vice-president of sales for Evergreen International Airlines and numerous management positions, including regional director of cargo sales and operations for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Cargo.

Silk Way Airlines operates a fleet of B747F, IL-76 and AN-12 freighters offering both scheduled and charter cargo services around the world via its newly built cargo hub in Baku, Azerbaijan.
