Another Il-76TD Aircraft Joins Silk Way Airlines Fleet

On July 10, 2008, another Il-76TD with PS90 engines (reg. no 4K-AZ101) landed in Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The 50 tones capacity freighter was built for Silk Way Airlines by TAPO (Tashkent Aircraft Factory).

The first IL-76TD with PS90 engines joined the Silk Way Airlines fleet in May 2007. Meeting all ICAO requirements, this modified freighter has significantly developed the market for IL-76 ramp freighter services worldwide. Both aircrafts can be operated not only within CIS countries, but also in any other country worldwide without any noise restrictions, which allows us participate in international humanitarian, relief or commercial programs.

Taskent Test Flights

 

Beginning May 15th, 2008, test flights of the second Silk Way Airlines IL-76 TD aircraft began in Tashkent. Delivery of the aircraft is planned by the end of June, 2008. 

Silk Way Airlines Soccer Team Takes Second Place

Silk Way Airlines soccer team took second place in the companionable championship dedicated to the National Salvation Day of the Azerbaijan Republic, held from June 12-14, 2008.

2008 Freighters World Conference

On June 9 -11, 2008 the Freighters World Conference 2008 was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. During the conference, the speakers presented such topics as freighter availability, fuel, and how to cut costs for freighter operators, security, a new threat to all-cargo, a growing freighter hub, hotspots for freighter operations, and winning UN freighter business. Among the attendees were Alexis Sioris-Chairman, Cargo Development Manager, Athens International Airport; Kevin Casey-President, Conversations Division, PEMCO World Air Services; Andreas Mayer-Director of Sales, EADS EFW; George Peppes-Marketing Manager, The Boeing Company, Enno Osinga-Senior Vice-President Cargo, Schiphol Airport.

Silk Way Airlines to Participate in 24th International Air Cargo Forum

From Novemeber 4th-6th, TIACA member Silk Way Airlines will participate in the 24th International Forum and Exhibition on air cargo transportation: ACF 2008. This TIACA-organized event will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Silk Way Airlines will take advantage of the opportunity to communicate with colleagues at other well-known airlines, exchanging experience and insight.
